Around the time of the World Cup.in 94 Ardiles was in talks to sign Maradona permanently.
At that time I knew the bloke (a Spurs fan) who was London's no.1 ticket tout for the West End shows and sporting events worldwide. He was very well connected and knew everything about his club.
He told me to lump on Maradona joining Spurs.
I had £20 at 50/1 and about a week later the cheating Argie failed a drugs test.
Bollocks.

Went to Villa v Liverpool to see Ronnie Rosenthal play.
May or may not be true, but it's the only game I've ever seen of any sport (I think) not involving a team I actually give a shit about.
Went with a Villain I used to work with and it was actually a cracker with Villa winning 4-2 and Rosenthal hitting the bar with an open goal from about 6 yards out.
Had a chat with David James at a petrol station afterwards, who had been in goal for Liverpool!

Went to Grimsby to see Kevin Keegan play for Newcastle, both clubs were in the old Div 1, he was excellent and obviously a cut above everyone else, even if he was in the twilight of his career!

Went to Barcelona to watch Messi play as part of a mini-break, he got a hat-trick against Malaga when Pellegrini was in charge of Malaga, Rondon put Malaga one up.

Saw a PSG versus Lens match.
PSG had a player who probably was or should have been famous, as he scored a cracking back-heel goal from the edge of the box. I can't kick it that hard going forward.
But I haven't a clue who he was.

I went to watch Fiorentina many times and saw Batistuta and Rui Costa playing. Didn't go to specifically watch them but was lucky I got to do so.
Oh, and Italian fans are fucking loopy.
